Since November 2021, the topic of the appearance and form of the new generation of the 5-series G60 series has not quieted down. The Internet is full of aggressive titles “Fans won’t be happy” or “Not optimistic” with new renders without any specifics, because we still have to wait until the official premiere. The G60 is scheduled to go on sale in the spring of 2023, i.e. 20 years after the phenomenal (let’s not be afraid of this word) E60 generation.
Here it is worth stopping for a moment and asking the question: will the e60 become a classic? Personally, I think the correct question should be “When will the E60 become a classic?” Your question may be “Is it worth investing in the E60?” This is what I will try to focus on today.
In the West, we have been seeing for a long time what is happening with prices, which have been rising very sharply for the past two years. The whole problem, or rather advantage, of the 60s is their timelessness and durability. It’s hard to think of the E60 as a YoungTimer when these cars are still very popular as everyday cars, and they do a great job at it! Whether we like it or not, the healthy, well-kept specimen on the streets still elegantly fits into our everyday landscape, even though its shape is already 19 years old! What’s more, many fans of the brand across Europe are eager to switch from the newer F series to its predecessor because they believe that the E60 performs better in everyday use. It drives better, has fewer breakdowns, is more durable and relatively cheaper to use. Models from the beginning of production are highly sought after, especially with M54 petrol engines, and equipped with the M package, they already command exorbitant prices and are unavailable. So the E60 will have to wait for its real name as YoungTimer until it stops dominating the streets as everyday cars, and for now the demand is not decreasing.
Is buying an E60 as an investment a good idea today?
This is one of the most difficult questions because there is no real answer. On the one hand, it is already too late because the top versions, such as the previously mentioned 530i in the Mpackage or 550i in the Mpackage, are already horrendously expensive. On the other hand, these cars still perform great in everyday use and there is no risk of their extinction (although let’s remember that a similar fate befell the dinosaurs :)) Here, the correct answer may be suggested by industry experience which says that every respected car with low mileage will only gain in popularity over time. values.
The previously mentioned premiere of the G60 may have a major impact on a solid increase in the prices of the E60, because the prices of the G30 will gradually decline and the F10 will hit the bottom in price. And the E60 will share the fate of the previous E39 series and will slowly become classics. It is worth mentioning the topic of the M5 at this point.
The M5E60 is one of the more controversial cars of this brand. It’s hard to refuse him anything.
Is he an icon of his times? With a five-liter V10 N/A spinning up to 8250RPM built on F1 technology, it is definitely an icon.
Is it pointless? Taking into account the failure rate, costs and service requirements of this car, we won’t even pay attention to fuel consumption. Unfortunately, it makes no sense.
Is it the brand’s craziest car? With a jerking SMG gearbox, with a powerful engine practically transferred here from an F1 car. BMW definitely hasn’t created another car like this that wants to kill you. The button on the M steering wheel changes the engine map from 400KM to 507KM. After pressing this button, the car should call a psychologist who, after talking to the driver, should agree to full power because not everyone is ready for it. Nowadays, 507KM doesn’t impress anyone, but anyone who could play with them will confirm that it’s hard to get a crazier 500KM.
There are practically half and half supporters and total opponents of the M5 E60. Due to the costs of maintaining this car, the prices on the market are very different, so much so that it is difficult to assess which ones are adequate. We already know that the M5 G60 is to be a hybrid with huge power – some sources say up to 750 HP. I must admit that it sounds beautiful https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9IqrSHiRY8I&t=36s&ab_channel=BMWBLOG I hope it matches the E60 in its ferocity and fury. So all signs in heaven and on earth point to the M5E60 with the crazy V10 being the last M5 N/A, so we can definitely expect a price spike.

E60 zaczęły drożeć dość młodo w porównaniu do E39.
Pozdrawiam
